The Curriculum...

Following the British National Curriculum, the school offers: English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, History, Geography, Music, RE, Art & Design, Design & Technology, PE, Citizenship, PSHE and Spanish at Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1 to 6).

Nursery and Reception follow the National Curriculum guidelines for the Foundation Stage, plus Spanish. (There is a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy at this stage, in order to build a firm foundation for Key Stages 1 & 2.)

Classes...

The Firs is a small school of just four classes at present, with up to twenty children per class. This allows every child plenty of individual attention during the day. The fact that there are two year groups per class is not a problem as children are taught according to their individual needs. Children stay with the same Form Tutor for two years, which means that staff can really get to know the children well. Younger children may attend part-time in Class 1 (fees pro rata).

  • Class 1: Nursery & Reception – The Foundation Stage
  • Class 2: Years 1 & 2 – Key Stage 1
  • Class 3: Years 3 & 4 – Key Stage 2
  • Class 4: Years 5 & 6 – Key Stage 2
  • Part time is available for the Foundation Stage.
